The honest version
Doha is small enough that everything is close and equipped far beyond its size. The tournament infrastructure left the city with venues, hotels, transport and an operating experience of very large international audiences.
It works particularly well for congresses and corporate conventions of a few thousand where you want short transfers, a single hotel cluster and a hub airline that reaches almost everywhere non-stop.
Operating notes
What actually decides whether Doha works for you.
Airlift, hotel capacity, ground and season — in that order, and before anyone falls in love with a photograph.
- 01Access and airlift
- Hamad International (DOH) is a major hub with a strong network across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas. Visa-free or on-arrival entry for a wide range of nationalities.
- 02Hotels and capacity
- Substantial post-tournament inventory across categories, generally available except around major sporting or diplomatic events.
- 03Ground and distance
- Short transfers, a functioning metro and light traffic by regional standards. One of the easier Gulf cities to move a group around.
- 04Season and calendar
- November to April. Summer is very hot and most large programmes avoid it.
Principal venues
Where Doha events happen
- Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre
- Qatar National Convention Centre
- Lusail venues
- Museum of Islamic Art
- West Bay and Msheireb hotel ballrooms
Capacity and technical specifications change with refurbishment. We confirm current specification at sourcing rather than quoting a brochure.
Constraints
What we check before recommending it
- Major sporting and diplomatic events remove availability suddenly
- Alcohol service is restricted to licensed venues — confirm early
- Ramadan changes catering, licensing and working hours
- Supplier depth is thinner than the UAE for very large simultaneous events
