MadridExhibition scale, and the best bridge in Europe to Latin America
IFEMA gives you exhibition capacity most European cities cannot match, and Barajas is the one European hub built around Latin American traffic.
The honest version
Madrid is the answer when the show is genuinely large and part of the audience is flying from Bogotá, Mexico City, São Paulo or Lima. IFEMA runs to twelve halls and handles shows that would not physically fit in most of the continent, and Iberia has spent decades building the Latin American network that sits behind it.
It is also a straightforward operating city — good ground transport, deep hotel stock, contractors who work exhibitions every week. The catch is the calendar rather than the capability. August empties, and the fair grounds sit twenty minutes out of the centre, so the delegate day has to be designed around a commute rather than a walk.
Best suited to
- Large exhibitions and trade shows
- Congresses with Latin American delegations
- Distributor and dealer conventions
- Incentive programmes with cultural content

Operating notes
What actually decides whether Madrid works for you.
Airlift, hotel capacity, ground and season — in that order, and before anyone falls in love with a photograph.
Access and airlift
Barajas (MAD) is a full hub with the strongest Latin American network in Europe, plus dense intra-European and growing Gulf and Asian links. High-speed rail reaches Barcelona, Seville and Valencia in under three hours.
Hotels and capacity
Deep and varied, but split between the centre and the fair grounds. Decide which one the programme lives in before you block, because moving eight hundred people twice a day is a cost nobody budgets.
Ground and distance
Metro reaches IFEMA directly. Coach movements are straightforward outside rush hour; the airport is twenty minutes from the fair grounds and thirty-five from the centre.
Season and calendar
March to June and September to November. August is genuinely closed — suppliers, restaurants and staff all go away. July is hot enough to change outdoor plans.
