Access and airlift
Vienna International (VIE) has good European and long-haul coverage, with a fast rail link into the city and excellent onward rail across central Europe.
Humberto Delgado (LIS) has strong European coverage plus Americas and Africa links; the airport is unusually close to the city.

Substantial and well-distributed, with reliable capacity except in the largest congress weeks.
Good quality and value, but capacity is the constraint in peak weeks.
Ground
Excellent public transport, compact centre, short transfers and straightforward coach operations.
Short transfers and an easy city to move around. Hills and narrow old-town streets restrict coach access in places.
Season
Spring and autumn are the congress seasons. The winter ball season occupies many of the heritage venues.
April to June and September to October are best. Major congress weeks remove hotel availability entirely.
